Secretary of Banking and Securities Robin L. Wiessmann was recognized as one of Pennsylvania's "50 Over 50" by City & State Pennsylvania. The award honors the most influential Pennsylvanians in government, business, culture and social services to have passed the half-century milestone.

"It is a great honor to be a part of a very distinguished group of Pennsylvanians whose achievements have had such a positive impact on our commonwealth," said Secretary Wiessmann. "I am also pleased to see so many other women included on this list, which provides more evidence that women in leadership roles has become the 'new normal' in Pennsylvania's business, government, and service communities."

Among Secretary Wiessmann's ground-breaking accomplishments in her current role:

  • Creation of one of the nation's first state regulatory Cybersecurity Task Forces, which provides businesses access to resources and industry best practices to bolster cybersecurity policies and practices
  • Leadership of Governor Wolf's Consumer Financial Protection Initiative, which works to protect consumers and business from illegal lending; protect senior citizens from financial abuse; and help working adults save for retirement
  • Reorganizing and refocusing the department's consumer services and business outreach functions, including publishing the first Consumer Services Office Annual Report

She is also a well-known pioneer in financial circles, having served as Pennsylvania State Treasurer, and founding principal and president of Artemis Capital Group, the first women-owned investment banking firm on Wall Street.

"Robin Wiessmann has had an incredible career in investment and commercial banking, as well as public service," stated Brian Hudson, Executive Director and CEO of the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, who nominated her for the award. "There aren't enough words to capture her experience and accomplishments. I'm nominating her because of what she's doing today, and how that will influence so many lives years from now."
