On August 12th, 2017 the Feel Your Boobies Foundation will host its Third Annual Bras Across the Bridge event on City Island, Harrisburg - sponsored by Arooga’s. Over 1000 donated bras will be stretched across the Walnut Street bridge in a bra chain held by individuals and corporate fundraising teams. The goal of the event is to raise funds to support the Foundation’s College Outreach Program, which provides free breast health education materials each year to 200 college health centers nationwide.
Pre-Party, hosted by the City Islanders, will take place from 4:30-6:30p with music from WINK104 with food trucks and beer trucks to kick-off the event. Then at 6:30p Bras Across the Bridge Kickoff Ceremony will take place centerfield at the Harrisburg City Islanders Pink Night soccer game (FNB Stadium) where the brain chain will be displayed and survivors will be honored. The bra chain parade will depart the stadium and continue down City Island and across the Walnut Street bridge. The bra chain parade concludes with a Survivor March, where a group of survivors will lead the group across the bridge, followed by all bra chain participants. A Post-Party will be held at Arooga’s on 2nd Street in Harrisburg from 8p-9p, where all registered participants will enjoy a complimentary drink while toasting to a job well done. About the Foundation
The Feel Your Boobies Foundation was founded in 2004 after Leigh Hurst, Founder and Middletown native, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 33. She found her lump simply by “feeling her boobies”, not through a formal “breast self-exam”. The lump was unnoticed by doctors and she has no family history of the disease. What started as a few fun t-shirts she designed to remind her friends about something that save her life has evolved into
a non-profit Foundation. To learn more about the Campaign go to www.feelyourboobies.com.
