Professional Underwriters Agency (PUA), a division of NSM Insurance Group and leader in professional liability for architects and engineers, announced Monday that is has hired Debra Christen as a program underwriter. Christen, a seasoned insurance professional with more than 30 years of experience, is an expert in professional liability for architects, engineers, land surveyors and environmental consultants. In her new role at PUA, Christen will be responsible for overseeing new business and renewal retention on the East Coast.

Christen has worked for several top A&E specialty brokers, most recently as a vice president and client executive responsible for new business production, risk management and marketing. She also managed a renewal book of business that included more than 100 design professional firms on the East Coast.

As an industry expert, Christen has authored several articles relating to best practices for architects and engineers, and has developed and presented numerous risk management workshops. Debbie is also a member of a/e ProNet, and previously served on the board of directors. She is also actively involved in the American Institute of Architects, Society of Design Administrators and New Jersey Society of Land Surveyors.
