Nonprofit recognizes Bucks County’s leading mutual financial institution for long-standing commitment to community

Penn Community Bank is proud to announce that it has been honored with the 2017 Live United Award by United Way of Bucks County in recognition of the time, resources and financial support the bank gives to the Bucks County nonprofit organization.

The Live United Award recognizes a group that shows what it means to do just that, Live United. To qualify, award winners must engage and educate their team, run a United Way campaign, host special events, and invite colleagues to volunteer at one or more United Way events during the year.

Penn Community Bank runs a United Way pledge campaign for its employees and hosts other fundraisers throughout the year, including a monthly “Jeans for a Cause” campaign, in which team members pay $5 to wear jeans to work one day, with the proceeds going to a chosen nonprofit.

“Penn Community Bank demonstrates every day what it means to mobilize the caring power of communities,” said Marissa Christie, President and CEO of United Way of Bucks County. “Their leaders engage all of their team members in activities and efforts that help improve the lives of people across Bucks County.”

Penn Community Bank also is proud to serve as the presenting sponsor for Bucks Knocks Out Hunger, United Way of Bucks County’s largest, community-driven hunger-fighting event. Now celebrating its five-year anniversary, BKO Hunger hopes to raise $75,000 to support the 2017 program, which strives to provide 100,000 meals and 54,000 pounds of local produce, lean proteins and dairy products to food pantries across Bucks County.

“We are proud to work with United Way of Bucks County to fight the food insecurity that affects 1 in 10 Bucks County residents, and 16 percent of all Bucks County children,” said Jeane M. Coyle, President and CEO of Penn Community Bank. “Together, we can make sure that our neighbors don’t just stave off hunger, but have access to healthy, nutritious meals.”
