S&T Bank, a full-service financial institution with assets of $6.9 billion, and locations in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York, is proud to announce Becky Stapleton, senior executive vice president and chief banking officer was honored with the inaugural Champion For Women Award at the Pennsylvania Bankers Association's fourth annual Women in Banking Conference on March 6, 2017.
The Champion For Women Award is part of the new Women in Banking Recognition of Excellence Program, a program dedicated to honoring men and women in the banking industry who promote and inspire women in the workplace to reach their full potential. The Champion For Women Award celebrates a seasoned professional who through personal commitment, application and dedication, is invested in others, celebrates success in others, and fosters growth to the fullest potential.
"Becky has gone above and beyond her traditional role as a female banking executive to forge a path for women both at the Bank and in our community," said Todd D. Brice, president and chief executive officer at S&T Bank. "We're proud to call her one of our own and to see her tireless efforts recognized by our region's leading industry association."
Becky, who has been with S&T Bank for more than 28 years, is responsible for overseeing all of S&T Bank's retail banking operations, including market sales and retail banking sales, and along with other senior leadership, defines and executes the strategic direction of the Bank. In her tenure with S&T Bank, she created a yearlong mentorship program and professional book club for women executives, as well as initiated the Bank's sponsorship of numerous community programs for women, including the PGA TOUR's Executive Women's Day, the Women's Health Conversations, and Pittsburgh Magazine's Women in Business series. In 2013, her efforts were recognized by the Business & Professional Women's Club of Indiana, which awarded S&T Bank Employer of the Year.
As a group leader of the PA Bankers' Women in Banking Initiative, Becky spearheaded planning for the group eight seminar in Fall 2015, which was the most-attended seminar in the series. In alignment with S&T Bank's core values, Becky has also held various leadership roles in community and civic organizations throughout her career, including the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) Business Advisory Council, Indiana Area School District, ARIN Intermediate Unit 28, United Way, YMCA, Chamber of Commerce, and the Red Cross. Becky earned her master's degree in public affairs from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Arts in government and public service from IUP.
