Salus University Appoints Four New Members to its Board of Trustees

Salus University has announced four recent appointments to its Board of Trustees.

Dr. Michael H. Mittelman, president of Salus University said, “We are thrilled to welcome these accomplished individuals to the Salus Board of Trustees. They are each outstanding additions. We look forward to their input and unique expertise as we work together to positively impact medical education amidst the changing face of healthcare in our country.”

Thomas E. Beeman, PhD, FACHE, Rear Admiral, USNR, Chief Operating Officer - Regional Operations, University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS).

Dr. Beeman has been the Chief Operating Officer for Regional Operations for the University of Pennsylvania Health System since September 2015. Heis responsible for ensuring that the broadest population of communities possible has access to Penn’s clinical care and caring through the development of a comprehensive network of acute care hospitals supported by primary care, post-acute care and population health services. With 32,000 staff, the University of Pennsylvania Health System houses the United States’ oldest medical school, oldest university hospital (Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania) and the nation’s first hospital (Pennsylvania Hospital). Prior to this appointment, Dr. Beeman was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Lancaster General Health.

Jerome N. Kline, Esq., Partner, , Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel, LLP.

As a longtime partner in the Business and Finance Department at Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippell, LLP, a full-service Philadelphia law firm, Mr. Kline has concentrated his practice in real estate, corporate and real estate finance, banking and sophisticated business transactions. He is a Fellow in the American College of Mortgage Attorneys, has been named a Super Lawyer for numerous years, and has been a frequent guest on television and talk radio programs. Kline has served on many charitable, cultural and civic boards and in elected political positions. He presently also serves on the Boards of Directors of Temple University Hospital, Valley Forge Educational Services, Wesley Enhanced Living, the Philadelphia Securities Association and others.

Kyra G. McGrath, Esq., Chief Operating Operator/Executive Vice President, WHYY, Inc.

As COO/EVP for WHYY, Inc., McGrath is responsible for operation of all content distribution platforms including TV, radio, internet and mobile while overseeing engineering and technical staff. She also manages legal, government affairs and WHYY’s education programs in the community.

She is active in many civic associations, serving as Chair of the Salvation Army Kroc Center Advisory Board and a member of the Forum of Executive Women. She was chosen as one of the 25 Women of Distinction by the Philadelphia Business Journalin 2003 and the Top 75 Irish-American Businesswomen in the US by the Irish Voice in 2009. She was presented with the Take the Lead Award by the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Pennsylvania in 2011 and a Trailblazer Award by Pathways of PA in 2011.

Adrienne A. Phillips, MD, MPH, Assistant Professor of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, Weill Cornell Medical College.

Dr. Phillips is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology and conducts clinical research in blood cancers and stem cell transplantation at Weill Cornell Medical College. She also holds professional memberships in the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and has lectured nationally and internationally in her field. The recipient of numerous professional recognitions, Dr. Phillips received the 2013 “40 under 40” Achievement Award, the 2013 Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health Programs to Increase Diversity Among Individuals Engaged in Health-Related Research (PRIDE) Award, and the 2011 American Society of Hematology/Robert Wood Johnson Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Award.
