American Water Names Jeffrey McIntyre SVP

HERSHEY, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--American Water announced today it has named Jeffrey McIntyre senior vice president of its Mid-Atlantic Division, encompassing Pennsylvania and West Virginia. He will also become president of Pennsylvania American Water, effective March 1, 2017. McIntyre replaces Kathy Pape, who was named American Water’s senior vice president of Regulatory Policy and Business Development.

McIntyre is currently president of West Virginia American Water, providing high-quality and reliable water services to approximately 540,000 people. In this role, he is the principal contact for American Water in West Virginia and is dedicated to building and maintaining relationships with state and local officials, regulators and customers. McIntyre also oversees local operating staffs to ensure optimal performance.

Previously, McIntyre served as vice president of Operations for the Contract Services Group of American Water Enterprises, a subsidiary of American Water, where he oversaw all water and wastewater operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts for municipal, industrial and private facility owners. His responsibilities included client satisfaction and reporting, regulatory and safety compliance, financial and staffing administration, quality management systems, continual improvement programs and asset management.

McIntyre joined the company in 2002 as director of Operations with American Water Canada Corp. In this role, he oversaw the Canadian business with 25 client contracts and more than 200 water and wastewater treatment, distribution and collection facilities across the province of Ontario.

Prior to joining American Water, McIntyre served as manager of water quality for the city of Hamilton, Ontario, where he was responsible for the O&M of three wastewater treatment plants, treating between 4 and 400 million liters per day (MLD); a 900 MLD conventional water treatment plant; four communal well systems; and 160 pumping stations and reservoirs. He was also responsible for capital planning and implementation activities for these facilities, maintaining O&M agreements and overseeing the city’s CAEAL-certified environmental laboratory.

McIntyre’s additional experience includes positions with Philip Utilities Management Corp., the Regional Municipality of Hamilton-Wentworth and the Royal Canadian Navy.

A graduate of Brock University, McIntyre has obtained several professional certifications in water and wastewater operations and engineering. An American Water Works Association member, he currently serves as a section chair for the West Virginia American Water Works Association and maintains chapter membership with the Ontario Water Works Association. He is a member of the Water Environment Association of Ontario, for which he previously served as a board member and committee chair. He is also a member of the West Virginia Water Environment Association and Water Environment Federation.
